Bolt, a leading ride hailing platform, has partnered with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to strengthen road safety awareness among its drivers and courier riders operating within the Federal Capital Territory.
The initiative was highlighted during a sensitisation programme held in Abuja where officials of the road safety agency engaged Bolt driver partners and dispatch riders on the need to strictly comply with traffic rules and adopt responsible driving culture while operating on city roads.
Addressing participants at the programme, the Federal Capital Territory Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Felix Theman, warned drivers and dispatch riders against reckless driving and disregard for traffic regulations. He stressed that the Corps was not out to hinder legitimate business activities but to ensure that road users operate within established safety standards that protect lives and property.
Theman expressed concern over the poor driving habits often displayed by some commercial drivers and riders, urging them to respect other road users and see road discipline as a personal responsibility. He noted that the ultimate goal of every motorist should be to travel safely and return home without harm.
Officials of the Corps also used the engagement to educate participants on key road safety practices, including observance of speed limits, avoidance of dangerous overtaking, respect for traffic signals and proper maintenance of vehicles and motorcycles used for commercial operations.
Speaking on the partnership, Bolt Country Manager in Nigeria, Yahaya Mohammed, said the company remains committed to promoting safety across its network of drivers and riders. He noted that collaboration with relevant regulatory agencies is important to strengthening responsible driving culture and improving safety standards within the ride hailing and delivery ecosystem.
Mohammed explained that the sensitisation programme forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to continuously train and engage its driver partners and courier riders, particularly as ride hailing and delivery services continue to expand across major Nigerian cities.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is Nigeria’s lead government agency responsible for road traffic management, enforcement of road safety regulations and public education aimed at reducing accidents on the nation’s highways, while Bolt operates a technology driven mobility platform connecting passengers with drivers and delivery riders across several cities in Nigeria and other countries.
