The League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) has felicitated with Christians in Nigeria and across the world on Easter, describing the period as a reminder of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and its message of sacrifice, renewal and hope.
In a statement signed by its leadership, the group said Easter goes beyond celebration, noting that it underscores the endurance of hope even in moments of hardship and national difficulty.
LAJA said Nigeria’s current economic pressure, social uncertainty and rising insecurity have made the message of the season more urgent, calling on citizens to draw strength from it and remain united.
It urged Nigerians to deepen unity, show compassion to the vulnerable and resist divisions that weaken national progress, stressing that collective responsibility remains central to nation-building.
The journalists also expressed concern over continued insecurity in parts of the country, warning that the situation continues to threaten lives and disrupt livelihoods.
They called on all tiers of government to fulfil their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property, insisting that citizens deserve clear, sustained and visible action to restore confidence in the security system.
LAJA added that Nigerians should not lose hope despite present challenges, noting that Easter reflects restoration after suffering and light after darkness. It urged citizens to remain resilient, law-abiding and committed to national unity.
