President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Nigerian children on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, urging them to stay away from drugs, cultism and other social vices capable of destroying their future.
Akpabio, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, described children as special gifts from God who deserve protection, care and love from society.
He said Children’s Day remains a moment to celebrate the potential, dreams and future of young people, while also reminding leaders and parents of their responsibility to nurture and guide them properly.
According to him, the 10th Senate remains committed to policies and programmes that will safeguard the rights, education, health and wellbeing of Nigerian children.
“Today, as we mark Children’s Day 2026, I join millions of Nigerians to celebrate the joy, wonder and boundless potential in every one of you and limitless opportunities for growth and prosperity,” he stated.
He further said the future of Nigeria rests largely on the younger generation, urging children to remain focused and determined in pursuit of their ambitions.
“To every Nigerian child, I say: shun drugs and all vices that can derail your dreams. Dream big, work hard, and never give up on your aspirations,” Akpabio said.
The Senate President encouraged children to believe in themselves and embrace their uniqueness, stressing that they possess the capacity to shape the future of the country positively.
He assured that the National Assembly would continue to support initiatives aimed at creating better opportunities for children across the nation.
Akpabio also wished Nigerian children joy, happiness and fulfilment, while encouraging them to continue striving for excellence in all areas of life.
