The Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Society of Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers of Nigeria (SLAMEN) to advance the growth of the country’s aviation maintenance sub sector.
Najomo gave the assurance on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Executive Committee of SLAMEN, led by its President, Engr. Mubarak Haladu, to the NCAA Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a press statement, the visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to deepen cooperation on issues of mutual interest, particularly strategic initiatives requiring urgent attention to ensure the sustainable development of aviation maintenance and the wider aviation industry in Nigeria.
The NCAA boss urged SLAMEN to sustain its efforts in promoting capacity development, knowledge sharing, mentorship and a strong safety culture among aircraft maintenance professionals.
A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of a plaque to Capt. Najomo by the association in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the continued growth and development of Nigeria’s aviation industry since assuming office.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the NCAA, including the Director of Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, Capt. Donald Spiff; General Manager, Air Maintenance Organization Certification and Surveillance, Engr. Suleiman Akwuh; Regional Manager of the NCAA Abuja Office, Engr. Akinola Bello; and the Technical Assistant to the Director General, Engr. Ini Abasi-Udofia, among others.
SLAMEN is the umbrella professional body representing the interests of Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers in Nigeria.
