The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its National Campaign Council and a network of support committees to coordinate its activities ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
According to a notice issued by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the National Campaign Council will be chaired by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The council has Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas as co-chairmen. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as deputy chairman, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin is the secretary of the council.
The party said the council comprises senior APC leaders, members of the National Working Committee, governors elected on the party’s platform, ministers, principal officers and members of the National Assembly, as well as other key stakeholders drawn from across the country to drive its campaign for the Osun governorship election.
As part of efforts to ensure effective coordination of the campaign, the APC also constituted a number of sub-committees with responsibilities covering election planning and strategy, finance, grassroots mobilization, logistics, compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth engagement, women’s mobilization, disability inclusion and secretariat operations.
The party said the various committees are expected to work in synergy to coordinate campaign activities across the state, mobilize support for the party’s candidate and ensure smooth implementation of campaign programmes ahead of the poll.
The APC further announced that the National Campaign Council and all the support committees will be formally inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja.
The constitution of the campaign council marks the formal commencement of the party’s nationwide campaign structure for the Osun governorship election, with senior party officials and stakeholders expected to play active roles in mobilizing support ahead of the August 15 poll.
