Political stakeholders from the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno for another term in office in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ikot Ekpene, where participants drawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political groups adopted a communique backing the three political leaders.
The communique, which was read by the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Unyime Idem, followed a motion moved by Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien and seconded by Hon. Iboro Ekanem. It was subsequently adopted through a voice vote.
The stakeholders said they arrived at the decision after reviewing the political situation in Akwa Ibom State and assessing the contributions and performance of Tinubu, Akpabio and Eno.
According to the communique, the meeting endorsed Tinubu for another term as President of Nigeria, Akpabio for another term as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District and Eno for another term as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
The development was contained in a statement issued to journalists in Abuja by Jackson Udom, Special Assistant to the President of the Senate on Media.
Reacting to the endorsement, Akpabio attributed it to the prevailing peace and political unity in the state, saying the development showed that opposition parties were beginning to support the Tinubu administration.
“The peace in the state has finally led to the opposition parties joining to declare that they all stand on the mandate of Mr President,” Akpabio said.
He described the endorsement as evidence of unity, particularly in the North West Senatorial District, and assured Tinubu and Eno of strong support from the area during the 2027 elections.
Akpabio also appealed to political actors in the state to maintain peaceful coexistence and put past disagreements behind them ahead of the elections.
“Whoever we have wronged in the course of our politicking, let us forgive and forget so that we can move in one direction and one voice during the electioneering and voting,” he said.
