Abuja is set to host a major gathering of media proprietors, journalists, content creators, influencers and digital entrepreneurs as the Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria (APPMEN) holds its Aso APPMEN/Content Creators 1-Day Conference 2026 on Thursday, September 24.
The conference, with the theme, “Voice, Vision, Purpose,” will take place at the AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju Hall, VCN, beside the TETFUND Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja.
National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Amb. Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, is expected to chair the occasion.
The conference will focus on some of the major challenges facing Nigerian content creators and digital entrepreneurs, particularly payment difficulties, monetisation and the recovery of outstanding payments for services rendered and revenue generated through major global digital platforms.
National Coordinator of APPMEN, Chief Precious Enebuse, said the conference was designed to move discussions beyond complaints and provide practical knowledge, contacts and strategies that could help media owners, creators and digital entrepreneurs deal with payment and monetisation challenges.
Enebuse said Nigerian content creators had made significant contributions to the growth of global digital platforms through the content they produce and the audiences they attract, stressing the need for mechanisms that would enable them to derive sustainable economic value from their work.
He said the conference would also examine policy, documentation and other barriers affecting payments and monetisation, while creating opportunities for participants to explore ways of protecting their businesses and converting their digital influence into sustainable economic opportunities.
Two major activities are expected to feature prominently at the conference.
One is the formal investiture of the APPMEN Council of Patrons and the inauguration of the National Advisory Council.
The Council of Patrons will be led by former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, CON, as Chairman, while His Royal Highness, Barr. Joel Sabo Aninge, PhD, MFR, Odyong Nyankpa II, will serve as Grand Patron.
The Emir of Katagum, His Royal Highness Alhaji Baba Umar Faruq II, CFR, is expected to serve as National Patron, while development expert, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, PhD, will chair the National Advisory Council.
Another major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of 25 distinguished Nigerians as “The Nigeria We Want Ambassadors.”
Enebuse said the initiative was intended to recognise individuals whose public and professional activities demonstrate values of integrity, leadership and service to the country.
The conference is expected to bring together skit makers, comedians, influencers, TikTokers, YouTubers, Facebook and Instagram creators, journalists, bloggers, media proprietors and digital entrepreneurs from different parts of the country.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, is expected to attend as Chief Guest of Honour, while the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, is the Special Guest of Honour.
His Royal Majesty, Igwe Denis Okafor Ezeaniokaosisi II of Ovuria Kingdom, is expected to serve as Royal Father of the Day.
The organisers said attendance at the conference is open to interested participants, adding that the event will provide a platform for media owners, content creators and digital entrepreneurs to discuss sustainable digital enterprise, strengthen professional collaboration and examine practical ways of improving the economic returns from Nigeria’s growing digital media industry.
