The member representing Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. (Dr.) Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed, popularly known as POLAM, has presented a three-year scorecard of his representation, highlighting federal employment opportunities, education support, infrastructure projects, agricultural assistance and empowerment programmes since his assumption of office in 2023.
Mohammed presented the scorecard at the 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme, where he also announced a new five-series empowerment initiative targeting 1,000 constituents across Irepo, Orelope and Olorunsogo Local Government Areas.
He said his representation had focused on making government more accessible to constituents while pursuing projects and opportunities aimed at addressing some of the development needs of the constituency.
According to him, his legislative interventions included efforts towards the establishment of a Federal University of Kishi, Federal Medical Centre in Igboho and Federal College of Agriculture in Igbeti.
On employment, Mohammed said 87 Federal Government job opportunities had been facilitated for constituents through various agencies and institutions.
He listed opportunities involving the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, National Population Commission and other federal establishments.
Education also featured prominently in the scorecard, with Mohammed disclosing that scholarships had been awarded to constituents studying in various institutions.
He said more than 250 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination forms and over 100 Senior School Certificate Examination forms had also been provided to students in the constituency.
Mohammed added that classroom blocks and other educational facilities had been facilitated in communities including Kishi, Sooro, Igboho and Igbeti.
In infrastructure, he disclosed that more than 1,500 solar-powered streetlights had been installed in different locations across the constituency.
Other projects, he said, included classroom blocks, bridges, electricity infrastructure, a 300KVA transformer and low-tension reticulation in Igbeti, as well as facilities for the Federal Road Safety Corps and other community projects.
He also identified the full award of the reconstruction of the Kishi–Sooro–Igboho Federal Road as one of the major federal interventions pursued for the constituency.
In agriculture, Mohammed said more than 550 farmers had received agricultural inputs, while over 800 constituents benefited from cash grants ranging from ₦40,000 to ₦50,000 to support their economic activities.
He said more than 85 women and youths received sewing machines, grinding machines and water-pumping machines, while 20 new Bajaj motorcycles were distributed under the Drive-to-Own Initiative.
According to him, more than 120 youths and women also received garri-processing training alongside ₦200,000 start-up capital each.
Another group of more than 100 constituents received entrepreneurship training and ₦200,000 start-up capital, while over 240 youths and women were given ₦100,000 start-up grants.
At the 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme, Mohammed announced that the new five-series initiative would provide different forms of support to 1,000 constituents.
The items include vehicles, mini-trucks, motorcycles, deep freezers, generators, POS machines with cash and salon kits with cash.
Mohammed urged the beneficiaries to put the items and financial support into productive use and use them as a foundation for sustainable businesses.
“Use what you receive wisely. Make it productive. Let it become a foundation for something bigger,” he said.
He said the intention was for beneficiaries to expand their businesses, support their families and contribute to the economic development of their communities.
Reflecting on his three years in office, Mohammed said his representation should be assessed through the projects executed, opportunities facilitated and constituents who had benefited from the various interventions.
“The record is there. The projects are there. The beneficiaries are there,” he said.
He acknowledged that more work remained to be done, particularly in the areas of roads, infrastructure, education and opportunities for youths, farmers, women and entrepreneurs.
Mohammed thanked traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, women, youths, political leaders and other stakeholders for their support and cooperation as the new empowerment programme begins with beneficiaries drawn from the three local government areas.
