The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been ranked among the top five best-performing Federal Government agencies for 2025 in the Transparency and Efficiency category by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC). The recognition was announced at the PEBEC Awards and Gala Night held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.
According to a press release signed by Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, Head of Public Affairs at NCC, the award celebrates the Commission’s commitment to openness, accountability, and operational excellence in public service delivery. The NCC was recognized alongside the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, which emerged overall best-performing agency; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency; the Nigeria Customs Service; and the Nigerian Ports Authority.
Receiving the award, NCC Executive Vice Chairman/CEO Dr. Aminu Maida reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to transparency and regulatory excellence. He stated that the recognition validates the reforms and systems strengthened by the Commission, while emphasizing that the focus remains on creating a competitive environment for telecommunications operators and ensuring high-quality service for consumers.
“This honour is both a validation and a responsibility. Nigerians can rest assured that we will not rest on our oars. We remain fully committed to ensuring that the telecom consumer receives the highest quality of service, supported by a fair, transparent, and competitive industry,” Dr. Maida said.
PEBEC Director-General Zahrah Mustapha-Audu said the awards celebrate reform champions and highlight progress in improving the country’s business climate. Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs the council, described the awards as a reflection of the government’s commitment to a more efficient and competitive public service.
The awards underscore the collective efforts of government agencies to enhance transparency, efficiency, and a conducive environment for business growth in Nigeria.
