Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has continued his political consultations with a visit to Katsina State, where he met with key stakeholders of his movement and party structure, including Dr. Mustapha M. Inuwa, Lawal Musa Daura, mni, and other prominent figures.
During the visit, he expressed condolences to the people of Katsina over recent killings that left several innocent lives lost, describing the incident as a painful reflection of the country’s ongoing security concerns. He said the development once again highlights the urgent need for stronger measures to protect citizens and place the safety of lives at the centre of governance.
Obi, in his engagement with stakeholders, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process and advancing a governance culture rooted in the welfare of the people. He stressed the importance of deliberate investment in women and young people through skills development, access to opportunities, and structured support that enables them to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
He maintained that building a better Nigeria requires intentional and consistent effort rather than chance, noting that the country must gradually move away from divisions driven by ethnicity, religion, and entitlement. According to him, leadership should be guided by merit, integrity, and competence if the nation is to overcome its current challenges.
He added that while the issues facing the country remain significant, they are not beyond resolution if citizens and leaders commit to doing what is right with discipline and sustained focus on national development.
