It is with a heavy heart that for the first time, I share the news of my beloved younger sister, Dubem, who passed away one month ago from kidney failure. Dubem was only 37 years old, so you can imagine what a shock her passing was to our family.
She was the last child of my parents and her mother and all her 8 elder siblings are all living.
Dubem’s death serves as a wake up call to me and a reminder of the importance of regular medical check-ups, especially for organ health. Kidney disease can be a silent killer, and early detection is crucial for effective treatment.
As Nigerians, we must take our health seriously and cultivate a culture of regular medical check-ups, even if it means paying a premium for quality care because we are on our own in that race without a reliable health care system.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of staying vigilant about our health, even when the healthcare system in Nigeria may not always be reliable as I cited.
*Here are some tips for promoting organ health and preventing kidney disease:
-Drink plenty of water: Keeping your body well-hydrated helps the kidneys flush out toxins and maintain proper function.
-Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help reduce the risk of kidney disease.
-Exercise regularly: Physical activity helps maintain a healthy weight and can prevent chronic diseases that can damage the kidneys.
-Monitor your blood pressure: High blood pressure is a major risk factor for kidney disease, so it’s important to keep it under control.
-Manage diabetes: People with diabetes are at higher risk of developing kidney disease, so managing blood sugar levels is crucial.
-Get regular check-ups: Regular check-ups can help detect kidney disease in its early stages, when it’s more treatable.
It is my hope that Dubem’s passing will serve as a wake-up call for all of us to prioritize our health and take care of ourselves and our loved ones.
In addition to these health tips, it’s important to remember that we must also advocate for better healthcare in Nigeria. It takes you to be in the situation my family was in the past months to understand the horribleness of the health care system in Nigeria .Dubem is gone now, leaving behind 2 beautiful daughters.and our hearts are broken. As we commit her to mother earth tomorrow the 2nd of August 2024, to rest eternally, join me to Pray for my sister’s soul to rest in Peace 🙏 and also pray for us ,the living located in Nigeria for God’s special intervention.🙏🙏🙏
Rest in peace Dubem!
Rest in peace Candle in the wind, we love you but God loves you more, Angel.
