The Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio ‘CON has commiserated with the entire family of late Elder Sunday Bassey Ndah who recently passed away and was buried last weekend in Etinan, Akwa Ibom State.
Earlier in a condolence message addressed to one of the deceased’s sons, Mr Ubong Sunday Bassey who is a Legislative Aide to the Senate President, Akpabio described late Elder Bassey Ndah as “undoubtedly a pillar of the family whom everyone looked up to for direction”.
Akpabio further stated that: “it is obvious from your conduct that he laid a good foundation and inculcated in you the discipline to contend with vagaries of life without losing your moral personality”.
Akpabio, while concluding prayed that the good Lord will comfort and grant the family the fortitude to overcome the trying moment.
In his sermon, one of the officiating ministers during the commendation service held at Afaha Iman Primary School Field Etinan, Etinan Local Government Council of Akwa Ibom state before the interment, Apostle S.A. Isaiah who is the Field Superintendent of Etinan Apostolic Church Nigeria, described late Elder Sunday Bassey Ndah as someone who loves to serve God with all his time, energy, and talent and someone who cherished humanity a lot, the minister used the medium to admonish everyone to prepare for their own time because death awaits everyone to give account of their daily deeds while they sojourned here on earth.
One of the sons of the deceased, Mr Ubong Sunday Bassey described his late father as a symbol of diligence, responsibility, dutifulness, purpose driven and never idle.
He went further to state that his late father’s love for each of his children was indescribable, always ready to go the extra mile for his children.
He added that his late father’s departure has indeed left a vacuum but his legacies will definitely live on forever.
Hon. Victor Umoh in the same vein described late Bassey Ndah as “a god fearing man and respected community leader full of compassion”.
Ubong later expressed deep appreciation to the Senate President for his support, extending same to Sen. Aniekan Bassey, Hon. Obong Paul Ekpo, the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Chief Sylvester Okonkwo, lawmakers, his colleagues from the national assembly, Apostolic Church Nigeria, and many others who supported the family through one way or another.
The funeral ceremony commenced on Thursday 22nd, August with service of songs, followed by Friends Night on Friday, 23rd August and final commendation service/interment on Saturday 24th August 2024.
Late Elder Sunday Bassey Ndah died at age 62, he was a prominent and dedicated member and officer of the Apostolic Church Nigeria and was also Etinan Area Choirmaster of the then Uyo field, now Akwa Ibom Territory and Etinan Field respectively, he is survived by wife and children.
