PRESS RELEASE:

National Council for Arts and Culture forms CLAP/ICE/ORIGINS implementation committee.

The Creative Leap Accelerator Platform (CLAP) was launched at the end of August by the Hon. Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa and she announced the National Council For Arts and Culture as the key implementing agency. Further to this, Mr. Obi Asika, the DG of NCAC has inaugurated an operational committee that will drive this program, aggregating the capacity building programs from all agencies and NCAC initiatives beginning with Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship (ICE) and the Council’s cultural inventory initiative, ORIGINS.

The committee is chaired by the Director General, with membership from the Hon. Minister’s Office, the NCAC as well as private sector partners.

The strategic alliance forged by NCAC with Dexude and PlayHouse Communications as key implementation partners for ICE and ORIGINS, respectively, leverages relationships with ISN Hubs; a nationwide network of over 200 hubs in 32 States and the F.C.T; as well as the Committee of Vice-Chancellors (CVC), who bring 235 locations. As the initiative evolves, additional locations will be incorporated, creating a hybrid ecosystem that integrates physical and digital resources to support Nigeria’s creative industry.

The partnership is designed to streamline resources, bridge skill gaps, and enhance capacity-building opportunities across the sector. By 2027, the initiative aims to upskill over two million Nigerian youths, empowering the next generation of creative talent.

A key feature of this initiative is the ORIGINS platform—NCAC’s innovative digital repository that curates Nigerian history & culture, and provides global black connectivity. By combining these resources the partnership provides a unified strategy for revitalizing the creative industry.

This coordinated approach that leverages both physical hubs and digital platforms, promises to deliver a comprehensive, accessible support system for the creative community.

Special recognition must be extended to Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hanatu Musa Musawa, whose visionary leadership is driving this transformative initiative. Her dedication to leveraging technology to advance the sector is set to position Nigeria as a global leader in creative innovation.
