Those were the days that to work as either public or civil servant, growth, progress, development and security are guaranteed. But nowadays, public or civil service is nothing but a glorified cell which keeps an individual in perpetual servitude. The entire life of Practitioners are entangled in senditary system.Sush as:
i-One’s entire life is
under regulation
for either 60 or
70 years of age or
under 35 or 45
years of services
on master and
slave relationship.
ii-One has no control
of his/her own life
within these
periods.
iii-Genuine
acquisitions are
not achievable in
most cases
unless through
cutting corners.
iv-The monthly
stipend,allowances
and other accrued
benefits are not
enough any longer.
v-Public or Civil
Servants are left
under the survival
of the fittest.
Hence the numerous social challenges public and civil servants are facing in Nigeria now, such as insecurities, hunger, malnutrition, different crimes and criminalities are all as a result of these challenges. It is therefore important to reduce dedication to full participation in this so called white color jobs being offered to selected people as potential public or civil servants which infact reduces their self esteem and forces people to remain under abject poverty forever and forever.
Another melancholic aspect of it is that, even at retirement after glorious services, the payment of gratuity becomes comatose unless a sincere and God fearing Governor comes in to their aids.Otherwise that’s how such public or civil servants would die out of frustrations.
Having highlighted these ills associated with being public or civil servants, here goes some of my suggestions that may bail out any public or civil servant out of these discouraging ventures. Thus,in the light of these analysis are my suggestions:
i-Those who are not
public or civil
servants but are
fortunate to have
been assisted by
the Governments
of the Federation or
of the States with
empowerments to
make use of them
positively such as:
(a)-If it is money
use it wisely to
undertake any
business how
small it may be
to build self.
(b)-If it is materials
do not be
pushed by any
advanced
problems by
selling it
away.If this is
done by
you,you have
cheated
yourself as you
have thrown
away your long
surviving
strategy.
(c)-Daily begging
here and there
will never give
you self
sufficiency and
satisfaction
rather than
everlasting
poverty.
The above are the strategies to be used by those who at all cost will never come close to public or civil service arena.
While the safety valves for those already entangled in the public or civil service work. They should inaddition adopt the following systems for their self survival:
(a)-Ensure to get as
small as 50×50
land space and
do little
cultivation even
mere vegetables.
(b)-Instead of
putting up
fantastic edifice
as living
house,make use
of the vast land
as backyard
farm.
As Nigerians we must help ourselves despite governments’effort which they cannot be able to satisfy all.We must add value additions by trying as much as possible to be creative and innovative. To rely on government is no more visible but to be self sustenance.
May we be guided.
