Today, I celebrate a deeply personal milestone: earning my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a nurse practitioner from the University of South Alabama (USA). This isn’t just another degree. For me, it’s a reflection of growth, determination, and the power of embracing change, no matter how tough or rough.
As many of you already know, my journey started with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in mass communication and journalism, where I explored the art of storytelling and media. From there, I then found myself in the Public Relations world after being chartered by Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). But life had more in store. I took a leap of faith, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and discovering a calling to combine my passion for connecting with people through my unmatched therapeutic communication skills with a desire to provide care and healing to those bereft of hope.
Now, as I step into the role of nurse practitioner, I see this achievement as more than a culmination of years of study. I feel it’s proof that reinvention is always possible. John Dewey’s words echo in my heart: “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” In the beginning, it felt like the ‘start’ might never ‘finish,’ but in the end, here I stand, grateful for the journey that brought me here and ready for the next chapter.
My appreciation goes to God almighty who, in His mercies, made this possible and to my baby, Dr. Ifeoma Dunn, for being my pillar and motivator. We did it babe! The goal is to keep soaring!
