At some point in the life of a people or nation the need arises to navigate tough terrains which will naturally require the man who knows the way, understands the times and patriotically committed to take up the unusual leadership challenge.The Igbo nation is obviously endowed by nature and providence to raise men and women with tested capacities to handle quick fixes as well as the viable solution for strategic development plans in time and season.Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, the Apex Socio Cultural Organization for the Igbo nation is conscious of the inevitable responsibility to put its house in order by electing the fit and proper persons into the Executive leadership to run a purposeful administration henceforth.We, at Civil Society Support For Igboland Development CSSID are quite aware of the travails and formidable challenges besetting Ohanaeze albeit, Ndi Igbo generally, including leadership disputes, factionalization and most unfortunately, the demise of two former presidents in recent years.Whilst we console ourselves, sympathize with fellow kinsmen and compatriots as well as empathize with other stakeholders and friends of Ndi Igbo, we commend, support and encourage leaders who have demonstrated commitment and love for the fatherland by standing in the gap to ensure the roof did not collapse on our head.
Next in the order of importance is the anticipated determination to uphold the ” Onye aghala nwanne ya ” spirit of Ndi Igbo to showcase strength of character, rational substance and utmost good faith in conducting the critical Ohanaeze Presidential Election on Friday January 10, 2025. It is therefore within our civic mandate and duty as a responsible Civil Society body of experienced compatriots to lead the cause of relevant sensitization to enable Ndi Igbo convincingly rally victory support for Sir Mike Mbama Okiro as President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo. There are other notable Igbo men who have done well by showing interest to contest the same post. However, Mike Okiro CFR, NPM,mni, Nigeria’s first Inspector General Of Police of Igbo extraction. Lawyer, author and quintessential Security Chief is far better and technically equipped for the job as a grassroots mobilizer, the unifier kinsman and bridge builder whose well established contacts and connections, reliable working relationships across Nigeria and the world will definitely attract sustainable goodwill for Ndi Igbo at home and abroad.With Mike Okiro on the saddle this time, the banner and identity of the Igbo race will receive quantum leap as Ohanaeze will be on the match again for the pride and prosperity of our people as one of the very best endowed human races on earth.
As he stated during his declaration to run for the office, we believe and will follow up with his priority focus on unity and peace for Ndi Igbo, sense of belonging for Igbos in the Diaspora, secure Igboland and Igbo investments, in addition to mobilizing Ndi Igbo worldwide to think home.
We therefore request and urge you bonafide and illustrious men and women, especially the delegates to the election on Friday to vote Sir Mike Mbamaonyeukwu Okiro whose philosophy of life is hereby quoted:
“The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively..” May we by the grace of Chukwuokike Abiama get it done right in the interest and ultimate benefits of all. Trusting our clarion call to vote Sir Mike Okiro is heeded, we pledge to serve Ndi Igbo and wider audience with periodic independent performance evaluation report of his stewardship.
