FMR AGF MALAMI ASSURES UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO DEEPINING DEMOCRACY AS HE COMMENDS ORGANISERS OF NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON STRENGTHENING DEMOCRACY IN NIGERIA

The immediate past Attorney General and Minister of Justice (Dr) Abubakar Malami, SAN,CON, Commends Organisers of National Conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria

Abubakar Malami, SAN, has commended the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) for organising the National Conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria. The conference, held on January 27-28, 2025, at Abuja Continental Hotel, brought together esteemed scholars, policymakers, civil society leaders, and stakeholders to address critical challenges facing Nigeria’s democratic processes and institutions.

Malami, who participated as a panelist at the conference, praised the organisers for providing a platform for meaningful dialogue and charting actionable pathways for strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. He noted that the conference theme, “Strengthening Nigeria’s Democracy: Pathways to Good Governance and Political Integrity,” was timely and relevant, given the current democratic challenges facing the country.

Other high-level political figures in attendance included His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, H.E. Peter Obi, H.E. Rotimi Amaechi, H.E. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, H.E. Nasiru El-Rufai, H.E. Kayode Fayemi, H.E. Liyel Emoke, H.E. Emeka Ihedioha, and Sen. Olujimi, amongst others.

Malami commended the organisers for assembling a diverse range of experts and stakeholders, including Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, Dr. Kole Shettima, Prof Joy Ezilo, SAN, and Mr. Jake Epelle, who engaged in a robust discourse on electoral credibility, institutional accountability, and citizen engagement.

“I am impressed by the quality of discussions and the depth of insights shared during the conference,” Malami said. “I commend the organisers for their dedication to promoting democratic governance and good leadership in Nigeria.”
