Still on the Matter: Violent Clash in Oba: Youths Attack Sasa Members Following Tipper Drivers Incident

A deadly clash erupted in Oba, Anambra State, when hundreds of armed youths from the community launched an attack on Sasa members, leading to multiple fatalities and injuries.

The incident reportedly followed a confrontation involving tipper drivers and Sasa operatives.
Eyewitnesses reported that chaos broke out after tipper drivers allegedly hit Sasa members.

In swift reprisal attack, Oba youths armed with weapons descended on Sasa, killing and injuring several members of the group.
Before the violent attack, Sasa operatives had reportedly apprehended several gang members from Oba.

The suspects allegedly confessed to various crimes and revealed that other members of their group were based at the tipper garage in Oba, a location described as a notorious hideout for criminal activities and drug trafficking in the state.


During their confession, the suspects also named alleged sponsors of the attack, including Chibon Hotel, Kaima Hotel, Chairman Oba Youth, the Tipper Chairman, and a figure identified as Ocha Abinno.

Karen James, the spokesperson for Sasa, confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing. “All those involved in this matter will be brought to book,” she assured.

The tipper garage in Oba has long been a source of concern for residents, who have described it as a hub for criminal elements and drug barons. The violent clash has heightened tensions in the community, prompting calls for immediate security intervention and thorough investigations into the allegations.


Community leaders and residents have urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation, apprehend the perpetrators, and dismantle criminal networks in the area to restore peace and order.
As the investigation continues, the authorities are being urged to act swiftly to prevent further violence and ensure that justice is served.
