It was a very long beautiful night of jubilations at the Abuja Continental Hotel on Saturday 15 February, 2025 as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) marks a major milestone – 25 years of regulating the nation’s aviation industry.
Since its establishment in 2000, NCAA has played a pivotal role in ensuring the safe operation of airlines in Nigeria. Despite numerous challenges, the agency has remained steadfast in its commitment to passenger safety.
Under the visionary leadership of its newly confirmed substantive Director-General, Captain Chris Onah Najomo, NCAA has introduced innovative initiatives and policies aligned with global best practices.

Captain Najomo’s transformative leadership has revolutionized the agency, positioning it for greater excellence.
As members of staff, airline operators, stakeholders, other agencies, industry experts gather to celebrate this achievement, the NCAA reaffirms its dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s skies and promoting sustainable growth in the aviation sector.
Earlier in a separate development same day at a symposium to mark 25th anniversary of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed that, “Federal Government has announced plans to integrate advanced technologies into Nigeria’s aviation sector to enhance efficiency, passenger experience, and air safety”.
The symposium, themed ” Human Capital Development: Upskilling the Next Generation of Aviators”, centered on the future of the aviation industry.
Keyamo was represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Kana at the symposium.
In his remark at the symposium, the Director General of NCAA, Captain Najomo lauded the agency’s efforts in shaping the nation’s aviation industry through regulatory excellence and safety enforcement.
“Right from the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) to the current NCAA which we are celebrating, our journey has been one of dedication, resilience, and innovation”.
Najomo re-emphasized the NCAA’s commitment to aligning with the Minister’s Five Point Agenda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, essentially focusing on infrastructure development, safety enhancements, economic growth and job creation.

Major highlights of the event were different presentation of different categories of awards to pioneers of NCAA Board, Minister Keyamo, DG Najomo, Staffs, airline operators etc.,cutting of 25th anniversary cake, music and dance.
