In a world dominated by noise and chatter, I find solace in the art of listening, observing, watching, and writing. There’s something profound about absorbing information, processing it, observing people and my environment, and then articulating my thoughts clearly and concisely.
However, the world of journalism today has become a haven for individuals who prioritize sensationalism, blackmail, pettiness, and emptiness over substance. These self-proclaimed “journalists” are driven by pettiness, hunger for fame, jealousy of others’ success, intellectual laziness, and desperation to not only cheat but extort. They stir up controversy and chaos, rather than seeking truth and informing the public.
Some are outright touts, parading as journalists, but lacking integrity, ethics, and professionalism. They use their platforms if any, to manipulate, extort, and deceive, rather than educate and enlighten. Their modus operandi is to create controversy, stir up drama, and conflict to further their own agendas. They thrive on chaos, bullying and coercing others into submission.
To these individuals, I say: give them a long pole. Keep them at arm’s length, and don’t let their toxic behavior infect your space. Recognize that their actions reflect their own character, not yours.
If you value straightforwardness and attention to detail and decency, maintain a safe distance from these individuals. Don’t engage with them, don’t feed their ego, and don’t let them dictate the narrative.
Instead, cultivate meaningful relationships with people who share your values, thought patterns, and passion for truth and decent behavior. Surround yourself with individuals who inspire and motivate you, and together, create a community that promotes constructive dialogue and respectful discourse that promote better society for all.
In a world overwhelmed by noise and misinformation, it’s essential to stay grounded in our values and principles. Let’s prioritize listening, observing, critical thinking and writing, and thus create a space where truth, accuracy, and respect reign supreme.
As Hunter S. Thompson said, “Buy the ticket, take the ride.” Let’s embark on this journey of observation, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement, and see where it takes us.
