SON & NADDC Inaugurate Two Key Committees

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) have inaugurated two key committees to enforce stricter automotive standards in Nigeria:

Project Management Committee (PMC) – Responsible for providing strategic direction, approving key decisions, and ensuring the initiative aligns with SON and NADDC’s objectives.

Project Implementation Team (PIT) – Handles the day-to-day execution of the programme, ensuring compliance with new vehicle conformity regulations.

Engr Yahya A. Bukar – Director, Standards Development Department
Engr Enebi S. Onucheyo – Director, Products Certification Department
Mr. Wanza Moses Kussiy – Head of Department, ICT
Engr Olalekan Omoniyi – Deputy Director, Standards Development and Certification Department (SDCD) – Secretariat
Barr James Zwawua – Head of Department, Legal Services

NADDC Team Members:
Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin – Director General
Mr. Musa M. Sani – Director, Policy, Planning and Statistics
Dr. Nua O. Omisanya – Director, Industrial Infrastructure Department
Barr Aduke Daniel – Deputy Director, Legal
Engr Abubakar Modi Gumi – Assistant Director, Policy, Planning & Statistics
Engr Olumensele Ibhadode – Head of ICT

These committees will collaborate with key regulatory agencies, including the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal Ministry of Finance (FMoF), and Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), to ensure smooth enforcement of new vehicle standards.

Full implementation of the Pre-shipment Verification of Conformity (PVoC) is set for April 2025.
