PSC Appoints New Edo State CP

In a press release signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations, the Police Service Commission has announced the appointment of Monday Agbonika as the new Commissioner of Police for Edo State.

This was disclosed on Thursday, 3rd April 2025, as Agbonika takes over from CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin. The Commission’s leadership, led by Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu, charged Agbonika to be proactive, settle down quickly, and reduce the crime rate in the state.

Agbonika was also advised to investigate the recent killings in the state, work to win the confidence of the people, and document every incident and action taken. He promised to stand by relevant laws and seek guidance from the Inspector General of Police.

Agbonika, a seasoned police officer with 32 years of experience, has had a distinguished career spanning operations, investigation, administration, and police management. His previous postings include Commissioner of Police Communications and Area Commander in various states.

The Police Service Commission has expressed confidence in Agbonika’s ability to restore sanity in Edo State and prevent reprisals from recent killings.
