A high-powered Labour Party delegation, led by Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, paid a courtesy visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in Abuja. The meeting aimed to discuss key developments within the party and formally submit a Certified True Copy of the recent Supreme Court judgment concerning the party’s leadership.
During the visit, Governor Otti emphasized the need for clarity and cooperation between the Labour Party and INEC, highlighting the importance of institutional alignment. He stated that the meeting was crucial in ensuring the party’s unity and stability.
INEC’s Acting Chairman, Mr. Sam Olumekun, received the delegation, accompanied by other National Commissioners. The discussions centered on strengthening collaboration and upholding democratic values. Mr. Olumekun reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to remaining impartial, transparent, and adhering to the rule of law in its constitutional duties.
The Supreme Court judgment has paved the way for a new chapter in the party’s organizational structure. Governor Otti expressed optimism about the party’s future, stating that the Labour Party is poised to reclaim its ideological foundation and build strong institutions.
