A high-profile faculty dinner was held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, bringing together renowned development experts to discuss the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta region. The event was hosted by Emmanuel Jakpa, Convener of the Warri Economic Summit Group (WESG), and featured Dr. Tope Fasua, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Economic Affairs, as the guest of honor.
The distinguished faculty included Dr. Sam Amadi, former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Director of the Abuja School of Political Thought; Prof. Ken Ife, a development economist; Prof. Jideofor Adibe, a political scientist; and Prof. Ben Enoma of Touro University, USA.
Frank Tietie, Lawyer and Executive Director of Citizens Advocacy for Social & Economic Rights (CASER), Abuja, expressed pride in assembling the esteemed faculty at Jakpa’s request.
The meeting focused on the Niger Delta’s economic development agenda in light of the new global economic order, with valuable insights shared by the intellectuals expected to contribute to Jakpa’s upcoming social interventions in the region.
The event also underscored the commitment to leveraging expert knowledge for the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta, highlighting the importance of informed decision-making in shaping the region’s future.
