Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Governor made the announcement to caucus members, LGA Chairmen, and PDP stakeholders in the state.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to officially receive Oborevwori into the APC on Monday in Asaba. The Governor will also meet with the APC leadership in Abuja this week. All appointees and PDP ward, LG, and State executives have been directed to begin taking their APC membership cards.
The Commissioner for Information will brief the public later today on the development. Oborevwori’s defection is seen as a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, and its implications are yet to be fully assessed.
