The Police Service Commission (PSC) has ended a 4-day induction programme for its Board Members in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. The programme, which began with a pre-induction dinner on Sunday and included presentations and discussions on Tuesday and Wednesday, aimed to enhance the effectiveness of the Commission.
DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police in the Commission, emphasized the importance of collaborative spirit and shared commitment to achieving the Commission’s goals. He urged participants to implement the knowledge gained from the programme in their respective roles.
The programme featured notable attendees, including Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President who represented the Senate President: Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Abdulhamid Ahmed Mallam Madori, Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs. The Commission expressed gratitude to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, for donating 18 hectares of land for the construction of a Police training college.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemauche Nnamani, stressed the need for unity among Board Members, noting that crisis can be destructive and should be avoided. He advised the Board to remain coordinated and work together to achieve success.
The PSC is committed to enhancing the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force through capacity building and strategic initiatives. The induction programme is part of efforts to ensure Board Members are equipped to contribute to the Commission’s goals.
