A former Governor of Plateau State, Mr Solomon Lalong has announced the passing of his former Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, who died on May 4, 2025, at the age of 74. Senator Lalong described Prof. Tyoden as an exceptional leader, wise, and dedicated public servant who made significant contributions to the state and nation.
During his eight-year tenure as Deputy Governor, Prof. Tyoden brought stability and progress to the administration, thanks to his tireless efforts. He also transformed the University of Jos as Vice Chancellor, leaving an indelible mark on the institution.
The former Governor led a condolence visit to Prof. Tyoden’s residence, where he commiserated with his family and prayed for God’s comfort. The family will make burial arrangements public in the coming days.
Prof. Tyoden’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations, and his passing leaves a void. May he rest in peace.
