By George Ozalla

Mr Mark Okoye II, Managing Director and CEO of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), has called on youths in the region to appreciate and have confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as youth-friendly. He cited the appointment of young Nigerians to head ministries, departments, and agencies as evidence of the government’s commitment to youth empowerment.

Okoye encouraged the youths to take an active role in governance, assert their rights, and hold leaders accountable, including himself. He highlighted the SEDC’s commitment to investing in infrastructure, mechanized farming, industrial parks, technology hubs, and the sports sector, which he said is a $700 billion economy.

The SEDC boss lauded President Tinubu for establishing the commission, noting that it would drive development in the South East region and make it an attractive investment destination. Okoye’s message to the youths is one of hope and collaboration, urging them to work together to build a prosperous region through robust programs and partnerships with the private sector and the five governors in the South East.
