The Police Service Commission has warned police inspectors against financial inducement in the upcoming Departmental Selection Board interview for promotion to the rank of unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police. In a press statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, the PSC cautioned candidates against contributing money to officials conducting the interview.
The Departmental Selection Board interview will hold at the 17 Police Zonal Command Headquarters from Monday, May 19, 2025. The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd mni), emphasized that promotion and its processes in the Nigeria Police Force will henceforth be based on merit and availability of vacancies.
DIG Argungu warned that any police officer found to be involved in inducing or compromising officials of the Commission or police officers supervising the exercise will face severe sanctions and public disgrace. “The Commission will deal ruthlessly with any police officer or its personnel found to be involved in any way, attempting to induce or compromise the officials supervising the exercise,” he stated.
The PSC Chairman advised police officers scheduled for the promotion interview to prepare thoroughly and face the interview panel with confidence, knowing that integrity and competence will determine their success. The Commission aims to ensure the Nigeria Police Force is capable and ready to secure the nation’s environment and maintain law and order.
As part of efforts to maintain transparency, staff of the Commission will be deployed to all the Zonal Command Headquarters to conduct the promotion interviews in partnership with officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
