President Tinubu Approves New Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a list of new appointments to chairmen and executive directors positions of federal government institutes, agencies, and commissions. The appointments aim to strengthen various sectors, including agriculture, education, sports, and population management.

The appointees include Senator Ken Nnamani as Chairman of the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, H.E. Philip Shaibu as Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Sports, and Omobolanle Akinyemi Obe as Director-General of the National Senior Citizens Centre.

Others are Dr. Segun Aina as Director-General of the Academic Staff College of Nigeria, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim as Chairman of the National Merit Award Committee is appointed from Ebonyi State. Mr. Ayodele Olufemi from Kogi State is appointed as Executive Director (Monitoring and Implementation) of the Nigeria–São Tomé Joint Development Authority.

Babaranti Ayandayo Rasheed from Osun State is appointed as Executive Director (Finance and Administration) of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, while Hon. (Dr.) Asabe Vilita Bashir from Borno State is appointed as Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development.

Senator Jalo Zarami from Yobe State and Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa State are appointed as Federal Commissioners of the National Population Commission. Momoh Jibril from Kogi State is appointed as a Board Member of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

These appointments are expected to undergo Senate screening and confirmation. The list of appointees was disclosed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
