President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment of northerners into key federal government agencies is addressing concerns about imbalance in appointments, according to Borno South Senator Ali Ndume. Ndume praised Tinubu for being a responsive leader who listens to constructive criticism and adjusts his decisions accordingly.
The senator had previously expressed concerns over the lopsided nature of federal appointments under Tinubu’s administration, referencing Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution, which mandates equitable representation of all regions in national governance. However, Ndume believes that the recent appointments demonstrate Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance and national unity.
Some of the notable appointees include Yazid Shehu Danfulani as Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Hamza Baba as Programme Manager of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and Professor Musa Garba Mai Tafsiri as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
Ndume congratulated the new appointees and urged them to justify the trust placed in them, warning that the expectations of Nigerians remain high. He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the President while reiterating his duty to speak up when necessary.
