According to Felix Morka, Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the APC, these individuals are desperate to regain power for selfish reasons. “Amaechi, Atiku, and El-Rufai are united in desperation for self-serving power,” Morka stated. “They failed to eradicate poverty during their tenure and are now criticizing President Tinubu’s efforts.”
The APC noted that Amaechi, in particular, served for 24 years without attempting to combat poverty in Rivers State or the country. “When Amaechi declared, ‘I am hungry,’ he must mean that he is hungry and desperate to return to his felt entitled dependency on state resources and patronage,” Morka said.
The party attributed the current economic challenges to the failure of previous administrations, including those led by the PDP, to allow the Naira to find its real value. According to the APC, President Tinubu’s reforms are necessary to catalyze economic growth, incentivize investment, boost competitiveness, and alleviate poverty.
The APC also highlighted the benefits of the reforms, including increased opportunities and income for entrepreneurs, farmers, and service providers. “The removal of fuel subsidy has ended massive corruption and sparked a surge in investments in the oil and gas and other sectors of the economy,” Morka stated.
The party concluded that President Tinubu’s reforms are systematically building a potent bulwark against poverty and positioning the economy for sustained and sustainable growth and prosperity for all Nigerians. “The criticisms leveled by Amaechi, Atiku, El-Rufai, and Peter Obi mask a shameless attempt to perpetuate and cling to the old rent-seeking economy that enriched them at the expense of the Nigerian people,” Morka said.
The APC has urged Nigerians to see through the selfish motivations of these individuals and support President Tinubu’s efforts to transform the economy. According to the party, the President’s reforms may have transient higher cost of living implications, but they are indispensable to securing a more sustainable economy that rewards hard work, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
