“Ganduje Support Group Condemns Hooliganism”

By George Ozalla

The Coalition for Ganduje Support Groups has strongly condemned the wave of hooliganism and urban violence unleashed on respected elder statesmen and citizens from the North-East geo-political zone at the recent APC North-East Zonal Meeting in Gombe. The group described the behavior of the thugs as barbaric, senseless, and amounting to public hysteria.

According to the group’s National Coordinator, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Salihu, the violence was triggered by the non-mention of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s name by APC Executive Governors from the North-East zone while endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential polls. Salihu argued that the governors had every right to express themselves as they deemed fit and couldn’t be coerced into mentioning specific names.

The group condemned the physical attack on the APC North-East Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Mustapha, and the manhandling of National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, PhD. Salihu described the actions as unacceptable and condemnable.

The Coalition for Ganduje Support Groups emphasized that President Tinubu’s joint ticket with Vice President Shettima in the 2023 presidential election wasn’t in question, and the governors’ endorsement of the President didn’t require mentioning the Vice President’s name.
