Five lecturers from the Department of Marketing, University of Port Harcourt, have been conferred with Fellowship awards by the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the marketing profession.

The Fellowship award is the highest professional qualification for individual membership, recognizing those who have attained great heights and contributed significantly to the growth of the marketing profession. The National Institute of Marketing is chartered by Act of Parliament No. 25 of 2003 to regulate the practice of marketing in all its ramifications in Nigeria.

During the Annual Marketing Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Port Harcourt chapter of the Institute was recognized as the most improved chapter in the country. The chapter’s Chairman, Dr. Evelyn Nwosu, a Fellow of the Institute and Zonal Director of NTA Port Harcourt Network Centre, was conferred with the Award of Excellence for her thought leadership role in developing the Institute.

The outgoing President of the Institute, Mr. IDY Enang, Fnimn, charged the newly conferred Fellows to renew their commitment to the development of the marketing industry. “I urge you to conduct research that will advance marketing education and mentoring for younger practitioners,” he said.

The Fellowship awards ceremony marked the climax of the Institute’s Annual Marketing Conference and AGM, which also ushered in the election of the Institute’s first female President. The recognition of these Uniport lecturers is a testament to their dedication to academic excellence and their contributions to the marketing profession.
