Morenike Grace Henry’s appointment as Chairman of the National Council of the Nigerian Legion marks a historic milestone, as she becomes the first woman to hold this position in the organization’s history. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to gender inclusivity and affirmative action is evident in this appointment, which is a positive development for the country.
According to a press release signed by Henry David, Assistant Chief Information Officer, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Henry’s appointment is a testament to her exceptional leadership skills and commitment to excellence.
Henry, a veteran and esteemed coordinator, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. As the pioneer of the Female Military Veteran Association (FMVA) and Director of Corporate Affairs at the Nigerian Legion, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to promoting the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.
Her dedication to providing succor to vulnerable groups, including women, children, and veterans in need, has been evident throughout her career. As Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Henry will work with the Ministry of Defence to promote the welfare of ex-servicemen, foster comradeship among them, and engage in activities that support the families of deceased veterans. She will also focus on training, employment, and settlement of ex-servicemen, ensuring they receive due recognition and support.
Henry’s leadership is expected to bring a new level of dynamism and inclusivity to the Nigerian Legion, and her appointment is a welcome development for the organization and its stakeholders.
