Anambra’s CP Orutugu Clinches Best Crime Fighter, Man of the Year 2025″

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory Council, has honored Anambra State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, as the “Best Crime Fighter – Man of the Year 2025”. This prestigious award recognizes CP Orutugu’s exceptional leadership, strategic approach to crime prevention, and dedication to upholding the rule of law in Anambra State.

The NUJ FCT Council highlighted CP Orutugu’s achievements in reducing violent crimes, dismantling criminal syndicates, and strengthening community policing in Anambra State. His commitment to transparency and professionalism has restored public confidence and improved the security landscape in the state.

Upon receiving the award, CP Orutugu dedicated the honor to the gallant officers and men of the Anambra State Police Command, acknowledging their sacrifices and resilience. He re-emphasized his resolve to tirelessly ensure Anambra remains secure for all residents and visitors. “This award is not just a personal recognition but a tribute to the collective dedication and sacrifices of our officers,” CP Orutugu stated.

The Anambra State Police Command expressed appreciation to the NUJ FCT Council for the honor, assuring continued dedication to professional, responsive, and accountable policing. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, noted that the recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of the entire police personnel in the state.

Following the award, CP Orutugu ramped up his partnership drive with a high-level visit to prominent Anambra-born philanthropist and security supporter, High Chief Dr. Christopher Ndubuisi. The visit aimed to strengthen synergy between the police, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders in intelligence gathering, community sensitization, logistics support, and grassroots engagement. CP Orutugu emphasized that “security is a shared responsibility,” and the fight against crime cannot be left to security agencies alone.
