PDP Guber Candidate: Ezenwafor Pledges Transformation for Anambra State

Chief Jude Ezenwafor, a frontline gubernatorial candidate in the November 8, 2025 off cycle scheduled election for Anambra State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, has reiterated his full commitment to transforming the state. In an exclusive interaction with few members of League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) on Tuesday, Ezenwafor reaffirmed that the party’s primary that saw his emergence as the state’s PDP gubernatorial candidate was a clean exercise devoid of any manipulation or coercion, he revealed his desire to bring about perceivable change in Anambra State when he is elected, he however stated that he was never desperate so long as right processes are followed.

The interaction, which is part of a courtesy visit to wish him quick recovery after a recent shooting incident in Abuja where he narrowly escaped death provided an amiable atmosphere to interact the gubernatorial candidate. Ezenwafor seized the opportunity to reel out his political trajectory and vision for Anambra State as well as other key roles he has played in the past for previous governments in the state and beyond. “I have been in this business for over thirty years and have garnered rich political experiences which I am set to deploy, I have at different times served at various levels, including as state chairman of the Labour Party in Anambra”.

Speaking further, Ezenwafor acknowledged that insecurity is a pressing issue everywhere, but emphasized that Anambra State’s situation is becoming an embarrassment that calls for urgent action.

According to Ezenwafor, “despite the challenges and the shooting incident, I am upbeat and reassuring my supporters and Ndi Anambra that I am still in the race and will be flagging off my campaign activities at the appropriate time.

He said that his major interest is to make a meaningful governance impact in Anambra State, going beyond mere rhetorics.

“We are going to indeed do more to lift a lot of people out of poverty using practical direct impact techniques cutting across more than 300 wards within the state,” Ezenwafor reassured. He concluded by saying that his vision for Anambra State is built on his understanding of the state’s unique challenges, dynamics and opportunities and therefore called on all electorates to key into his manifesto.

Earlier, the interim President of LAJA, Mr. Ikenna Okonkwo, in his introductory remark, described Ezenwafor as a courageous contestant whom God has probably spared his life for a divine reason. He said that the role of the media is to inform and educate the people in order to make informed decisions.

Anambra State is preparing for the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election amidst growing insecurity.
