The Police Service Commission (PSC) has acquired a new recruitment portal and is set to decentralize the police recruitment exercise, allowing state desk officers to play key roles in the process. This move aims to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in the recruitment process.
The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) mni, expressed the Commission’s commitment to working with state desk officers to ensure that the interests of all parties are protected. The new portal will be used for the recruitment of both PSC staff and police officers, and will be accessible to stakeholders, including the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Character Commission.
The decentralization of the recruitment exercise is expected to prevent corruption and nepotism in the system, and ensure that the recruitment process is fair and equitable. The PSC has held a consultative meeting with representatives from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, where far-reaching decisions were taken on how to improve and consolidate efficient, transparent, and accountable recruitment in the country.
The public is advised to note that police recruitments will henceforth be done using the Commission’s recruitment portal, with state officers playing significant roles. The portal is expected to be opened soon for the 2025 recruitment exercise.
