The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Correspondents’ Chapel has congratulated Chief Dr. Abel Ayodeji on his historic commissioning into the prestigious An Garda Síochána (Irish Police Service). Dr. Ayodeji, a renowned community development specialist and philanthropist, completed his training at the Garda Police College, Ireland, and was officially attested and commissioned on August 22, 2025.
According to the NUJ, Dr. Ayodeji’s achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a source of pride for Nigeria and the African community in the diaspora. With a background in social work, leadership, and public service, Dr. Ayodeji has worked with the European Union, United Nations, and national governments on various projects addressing social development, anti-domestic violence, and migrant integration.
Dr. Ayodeji is also the founder of the Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju Owu Sokori Community Development Foundation, which has impacted lives across borders. The foundation recently partnered with the NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel and played a significant role in supporting the successful hosting of the Chapel’s August 2025 Congress in Abuja.
The NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel praised Dr. Ayodeji’s commitment to excellence and applauded his noble step into law enforcement in a country known for strong democratic and civic institutions. The union wishes him continued success in his service with An Garda Síochána.
