The Nigeria Customs Service Board has approved the appointment of four Deputy Comptroller-Generals and 12 Assistant Comptroller-Generals, as well as the promotion of 3,312 senior officers across various ranks. This decision was made at the Board’s 63rd regular meeting held on September 2, 2025, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.
The newly appointed Deputy Comptroller-Generals are AB Mohammed from North-West, GO Omale from North-Central, OC Orbih from South-South, and D Nnadi from South-East. The 12 new Assistant Comptroller-Generals include MP Binga from North-East, CA Awo from South-East, AB Shuaibu from North-Central, AT Abe from North-West, K Mohammed from North-West, B Mohammed from North-West, TM Daniyan from North-Central, B Oramalugo from South-East, OP Olaniyan from South-West, B Olomu from South-West, IK Oladeji from South-West, and CC Dim from South-East.
The Board’s decision aims to fill vacancies created by the retirement of senior officers and ensure equitable representation across the six geopolitical zones, in line with the Federal Character Policy. The promotions underscore the Service’s commitment to merit-based career progression and recognition of outstanding performance. In total, 3,312 officers were promoted, including 80 Deputy Comptrollers advanced to Customs Comptroller, 151 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to Deputy Comptroller, and 612 Chief Superintendents of Customs advanced to Assistant Comptroller.
The Nigeria Customs Service has also recorded significant revenue collection, with a total of N3,682,496,530,576.48 collected between January 1 and June 30, 2025, representing a remarkable performance above expectations. The Service has achieved 55.93% of its annual revenue target within six months. The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, congratulated all newly appointed and promoted officers, charging them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
