The Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing affordable and reliable electricity to both investors and rural communities. Governor Nasir Idris, represented by Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, made this assurance at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Strategic Roundtable Meeting in Abuja. The government aims to ensure every village and community has access to reliable electricity, promoting economic growth and social development.
This commitment is part of the state’s broader strategy to bridge infrastructure gaps and build a resilient electricity market. By partnering with investors and developers, Kebbi State seeks to unlock its vast potential and drive growth. The government has emphasized its dedication to creating a secure and enabling environment for investors, prioritizing security and sustainability.
Kebbi State, located in the northwestern part of Nigeria, is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The Rural Electrification Agency has been instrumental in Nigeria’s efforts to improve electricity access. REA has signed grant agreements with nine renewable energy companies to provide electricity access to 17.5 million Nigerians through the deployment of 1,350 mini-grids and 1.6 million solar home systems. With a $750 million grant from the World Bank and the African Development Bank, REA is contributing to the global effort to connect 300 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa to reliable electricity by 2030. By partnering with state governments and private developers, REA aims to bridge Nigeria’s energy gap and provide reliable electricity to millions of Nigerians.
