The Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG) has congratulated the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its citizens on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, describing the milestone as a time for deep reflection on the country’s unity, resilience, and shared destiny.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Chief Jacob Edi, Kakaki Bassange, the group noted that Nigeria’s endurance over six and a half decades stands as proof of the collective sacrifices of both leaders and ordinary citizens who have remained committed to the ideals of peace, progress, and unity despite daunting challenges.
The NNMG paid glowing tribute to the nation’s founding fathers and successive leaders who have steered Nigeria through its historical journey, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his courage and policy choices. According to the group, Tinubu’s bold approach to tackling difficult national issues demonstrates statesmanship and a commitment to Nigeria’s stability beyond partisan considerations.
“As we celebrate 65 years of independence, we must not forget that what has held us together is far greater than the forces that seek to divide us,” the group said, stressing that Nigeria’s diversity, resilience, and collective hope remain the propelling force towards a brighter future.
The NNMG urged citizens across the federation to renew their faith in the Nigerian project, remain united, and work together to build a nation that fulfils the dreams of its founding fathers.
