Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who died peacefully on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
According to a press statement signed by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo described the late cleric as a true father of faith, a spiritual giant, and a fearless gospel crusader whose life embodied devotion, humility, and unwavering service to God and humanity.
He noted that Rev. Dr. Ukpai was not only a preacher but an enduring institution in Christian evangelism, moral reawakening, and the Pentecostal movement in Nigeria. Soludo recalled that for decades, his powerful voice and message of salvation resonated across nations, bringing healing and hope to millions.
The Governor remarked that the story of modern Christianity in Nigeria and Africa would be incomplete without acknowledging Rev. Ukpai’s immense contributions through his global crusades, theological teachings, and the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, which he founded to advance the gospel and win souls for Christ.
Governor Soludo extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late evangelist, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the entire Christian community in Nigeria, praying for God’s comfort and the peaceful repose of his soul.
Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, until his death, was a globally respected preacher, teacher, and missionary whose decades-long ministry left an indelible imprint on the Christian faith across Africa and beyond.
