The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced plans to investigate bribery allegations leveled against Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Emmanuel Aina, following a protest at its corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
According to a press release signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations, the protesters, operating under the umbrella body of the Centre for Human Rights and Advocacy in Africa Network (CHRAAN), stormed the Commission’s office carrying placards and demanding a probe into what they described as “abuse of office” by the senior police officer.
The Commission assured that it would look into the complaints objectively and ensure justice for all parties involved.
According to the press release signed by Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC reiterated its commitment to holding the Nigeria Police Force accountable for its actions and inactions, while also urging Nigerians to continue supporting the Force in the discharge of its duties.
The statement further noted that the Commission has introduced a whistleblowing policy to encourage transparency and accountability within the police system. It urged citizens to “feel free to blow the whistle on official corruption” both within the PSC and in the institutions under its oversight.
The Police Service Commission emphasized that it remains steadfast in its mission to promote integrity, discipline, and public trust in Nigeria’s policing system.
