In Igbo, Kpakpando means Star — a symbol of light, guidance, and enduring brilliance. Among his people, that name sits easily on Senator Osita Izunaso, whose calm presence often lights up any gathering with quiet dignity. The atmosphere around him carries a certain warmth — a blend of respect and admiration that feels almost tangible. It is the kind of presence that draws people in without noise, much like a steady star guiding travellers through the night.
Senator Osita Izunaso once again demonstrated the enduring spirit of compassion and service as he marked his 59th birthday, which also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Kpakpando Foundation for Persons with Disabilities. The celebration, emotional in tone and rich in meaning, reflected a life devoted to touching lives and uplifting those often forgotten by society.
In a message of gratitude, Senator Izunaso gave all glory to Almighty God for the gift of life, grace, and purpose, describing this year’s anniversary as especially memorable. “This year’s celebration is particularly special, as it beautifully coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Kpakpando Foundation for Persons with Disabilities; a vision born out of compassion, sustained by faith, and strengthened through the collective goodwill of Nigerians,” he said.
For two decades, the Kpakpando Foundation has remained a beacon of hope for persons with disabilities across Nigeria, empowering thousands through education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Izunaso’s long-standing commitment to this cause has earned him deep respect beyond politics — a mark of service that transcends office.
Reflecting on his journey, the well experienced Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District noted that “true leadership is measured not by titles, but by the positive impact we make in the lives of others.” His words echoed the values that have guided his public life — humility, inclusion, and faith in shared humanity.
As he turns 59, Izunaso reaffirmed his dedication to building a more inclusive society where no Nigerian is left behind, promising to serve with renewed energy and wisdom. He expressed gratitude to God, his family, friends, constituents, and all Nigerians who have stood by him through the years, adding that “we shall continue to spread hope, uphold justice, and work for a better Nigeria for all.”
It was the late Mother Teresa who once said, “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” That spirit runs through Senator Izunaso’s work — giving not as an obligation, but as an expression of love and shared humanity especially to people living with diverse disabilities and the less privileged. His foundation’s annual outreach continues to prove that true charity is measured not by the size of the gift but by the sincerity of the heart behind it.
“He who gives to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done,” says Proverbs 19:17 — a verse that mirrors Izunaso’s life of quiet generosity. The birthday may have come and gone, but many more surely lie ahead for a man whose journey remains defined by service, empathy, and faith.

His Kpakpando Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, founded in 2005, continues to champion empowerment, dignity, and opportunity for thousands of Nigerians living with disabilities.
