The Anambra State Police Command on Monday, November 3, 2025, received the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who was represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department, DIG Ben Okolo, and DIG Yakubu Kwazhi of the Operations Department. The visit coincided with the signing of a Peace Accord among political party candidates ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
The delegation was warmly received by the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, alongside senior officers of the command. Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 13 (Ukpo-Dunukofia), AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, also joined in welcoming the visiting top police officers.
In his remarks, the IGP commended CP Orutugu for his leadership and proactive approach to security management in the state. He praised the Anambra Police Command for fostering strong collaboration with other security agencies and maintaining effective engagement with community stakeholders.
He urged officers to remain disciplined, vigilant, and politically neutral, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure a peaceful, credible, and secure election in Anambra State.
As part of the visit, DIG Ben Okolo and AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter decorated Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Emmanuel Ogbuanya, who was recently elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police. The IGP congratulated the newly promoted officer, describing his promotion as a mark of honor and responsibility, and urged him to continue upholding the values of integrity, professionalism, and service.
AIG Peter and CP Orutugu noted that the visit would further boost the morale of officers across the command and motivate them to deliver quality service during and after the election period.
In his response, DCP Emmanuel Ogbuanya expressed deep appreciation to the IGP for the recognition, pledging to redouble his commitment to duty and to the vision of a more efficient and community-oriented police force.
