The Nigeria Customs Service Board has approved a wide-ranging promotion exercise, highlighting the elevation of two senior public relations professionals, Assistant Comptroller General Timi Bomodi and Assistant Comptroller of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada. The announcements came during the Board’s 64th Regular Meeting held in Abuja, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.
The exercise also saw the appointment of five Deputy Comptroller‑Generals and eight Assistant Comptroller‑Generals, following statutory guidelines of the 2023 Customs Service Act and adherence to the Federal Character Policy. The Board emphasized that the promotions were necessitated by the retirement of several senior officers, creating opportunities to strengthen leadership across critical Customs formations.
According to the Board, the move is intended to enhance operational efficiency, ensure effective policy implementation, and reinforce compliance management across the service. The recognition of Bomodi and Maiwada reflects the growing importance of professional public relations and strategic communication within the Nigeria Customs Service, as the agency seeks to improve engagement with stakeholders and the public.
