The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has extended the deadline for migration from the Fast Track Scheme to the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme to 31 January 2026, moving from the previous cut-off of 31 December 2025, according to a press release signed by Abdullahi Maiwada, Deputy Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer.
All Fast Track beneficiaries who have not completed their migration are required to submit and finalize their AEO applications via aeo.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng. Support and guidance are available through the helpdesk at aeo@customs.gov.ng. Only companies certified under the AEO Programme will continue to access the facilitation privileges previously offered under the Fast Track Scheme.
The AEO Programme, recognized globally, provides benefits including faster cargo release, reduced documentation, lower inspection levels, pre-arrival processing, and greater predictability in cross-border trade. The extension allows stakeholders sufficient time to complete their applications without disrupting operations and aligns with the World Customs Organisation SAFE Framework of Standards and Sections 108 to 111 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
The NCS will hold a Stakeholders Engagement Forum on Thursday, 18 December 2025, at the Lagos Continental Hotel from 0900hrs to 1600hrs. The forum will provide practical guidance on the migration process, demonstrate application procedures, and address compliance questions.
The Service urged all Fast Track beneficiaries to complete their migration to the AEO Programme to maintain uninterrupted access to trade facilitation benefits and emphasized its commitment to efficient trade, secure supply chains, and a transparent cargo clearance system.
