Akpabio Mourns Ex-CJN Ibrahim Tanko, Hails Judicial Legacy

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko, describing him as a dedicated public servant who devoted his life to upholding the rule of law and advancing justice in Nigeria and beyond.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio said he received the news of Tanko’s passing with shock and grief, noting that the late Chief Justice’s contributions to the nation’s judiciary would be remembered for generations.

He prayed that Tanko’s soul rests in peace and that his legacy continues to serve as an inspiration. Akpabio also extended condolences on behalf of his family, the people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, and the leadership of the 10th Senate to the bereaved family, the judiciary, and the federal government, asking God to grant them the strength to bear the loss.

Ibrahim Tanko served as Chief Justice of Nigeria, leaving a record of commitment to legal excellence and judicial integrity that continues to resonate across the country.
