The Anambra People Media Group has commended the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Dr. Aminu Yusuf, Talban Wushishi, over the appointment of Mr. Stanley Nwosu as Special Assistant on Media, describing the decision as timely and well considered.
In a statement released on Friday, the group praised Dr. Yusuf for his foresight in identifying competence and rewarding merit, noting that the appointment reflects a leadership approach that values effective communication in advancing institutional reforms. The group said the inclusion of an accomplished professional from Anambra State into the chairman’s media team further underscores Dr. Yusuf’s commitment to national balance and excellence.
According to the statement, Nwosu’s appointment was well deserved, given his extensive background as a communication strategist, public relations practitioner, and media professional with over two decades of experience across print and institutional media platforms. The group described him as a respected public intellectual and prolific writer who has contributed widely to public discourse on governance, development, and national issues.
The Anambra People Media Group highlighted Nwosu’s editorial leadership as Sports Editor of UNIZIK Comet Magazine and later as Editor of NPC News Magazine, where he was credited with professionalism, clarity, and consistency in editorial direction. It also noted his academic background, which includes a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and a Master’s degree in Political Economy and Development Studies from the University of Abuja, where he is currently pursuing a PhD in the same field. Nwosu is a certified member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and hails from Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Before his latest appointment, Nwosu served as Head of New Media at the NPC headquarters in Abuja, a role in which he played a central part in strengthening the Commission’s digital presence and enhancing its public engagement and information dissemination efforts.
As Special Assistant on Media to the NPC Chairman, Nwosu is expected to oversee media relations and strategic communication for the office of the chairman and the Commission, with a focus on promoting transparency, public confidence, and accurate understanding of Nigeria’s population data and management processes.
The group expressed confidence that Nwosu would bring professionalism, creativity, and discipline to his new responsibilities, while also wishing Dr. Yusuf success in the implementation of his Seven-Point Agenda for the transformation of the National Population Commission.
The National Population Commission is the statutory agency responsible for population data generation, civil registration, and demographic planning in Nigeria, while the Anambra People Media Group is a civic-oriented media platform focused on promoting good governance, merit, and positive representation of Anambra indigenes in national affairs.
